I believe in "personal accountability" and I THANK the nurses, also the people that clean my bins, and make a wonderful contribution to my life. The poor under paid people who contribute to our society often do so because they appreciate their contribution. Why should a nurse who cleans bed pans and cares about her patients, have to struggle to survive on a crappy pay check?

Poor people are sub-human?
by Alostpuppydog inhas anyone noticed how many jw's really seem to be rollin in it?
escpecially the elders, and they treat their subordinates like filthy gum on the bottom of their shoe?
just wondering because i too am poorer than poor and have spent a fourth of my life homeless already and i am 22.. another thing to consider is why domost of the population on this planet seem to hate the poor, even though we outnumber the middle class and the rich greatly?

DJS, I think that what also results in "The de-evolution of our spices" is You-tube, Twitter & Facebook, or should I say " You" "Twit " "Face" :-)
Does anyone agree that social media has created a sub-human culture, where we need a thousand friends, and then the need to inform people we haven't met in 20 years that our flight has been delayed 20 minutes. I think such technology and websites have created a "sub-human" who thinks he is more important than he is.
My point is we have different types of poverty, and often our ego contributes to our personal inner poverty.

DJS " Do you really want me to continue"
Yes please, well maybe, O.K then NO.
Whilst I agree with your statement " personal accountability is the strongest force in the universe" I also think it's wrong to say getting knocked up as a teen was stupid. Selfish YES, stupid NO. Because many teenagers in England got knocked up because it was good business, and required no education, but entitled the person to free housing and benefits . I blame the government for being so stupid to allow teenagers to simply get knocked up, and be set up for life. That's the pathetic point. Where was the responsible accountable behavior from the government that didn't prevent this happening? Please note governments, its my taxes that pay for your mismanagement.

Many of the atheists are doing better than religionists!
by anointed1 ini got up today to listen to the shocking news that russia’s ambassador to turkey was assassinated at an ankara art exhibit, and assassin was acting in the name of god.. it seems things have evolved to the other extreme that atheists are doing the work of religionists and vice versa.
while religionists take delight in killing fellow humans in the name of god, there were many atheists who followed very elevated morality.
the french existentialists and writers jean-paul sartre and albert camus were some of them.

anointed1, you say Gautama Buddha, " never believed in any God or supernatural power" I am not sure this is true, to my understanding the Buddha and his teachings were simply to learn to live in this life, and dont concern yourself with discussing mattters if they will cause contention and can't be answered.

Personally I have found I am happiest when I live largely on little. In my opinion health is wealth, the air I breath is free. Growing up I also noted the families who lived in the council areas ( government assisted accomadation) seemed to bring up better adjusted children than many of the more affluent families. ( Reliouse nutters excluded) Maybe it was because I noted the parents did things for fun with their children.
As a family I never attended a football match with my dad, nor did we ever spend valuable time doing things as friends. I learnt from this and the quality time I have spent with my child has been my most treasured wealth.
Materaliam is great but we must remember every thing we posses, possesses apart of us. In my opinion true happiness comes from being passionate about things. My wife wanted a family holiday to the West Coast of America this year, I managed to put this off to next year as I convinced my wife, that simply spending days at home and weekend excursions would be a more pleasurable holiday. My theory was our son Orlando would appreciate America next year but this year it would have bored him, as he would miss his friends, Pokémon, and thus also take away our enjoyment away from the holiday.
80% of wealth in England is inherited. So many poor people are those without an inheritance. This is why I purchased property young, and have invested in buying property to rent out.
My final thought on the matter is that my moderate financial wealth came about because I grew up in London England. Had I lived in less affluent parts of England I would be less well off as my wealth (as is most people's) is tied up in property. Having a mortgage paid off, makes for a very pleasant life. Anyone reading this thread take my advice, never live in rental accomadation if you have the opportunity to obtain a mortgage. But most importantly always appreciate true wealth is not tied up in materaliam, but in how we think, and how we appreciate heath, the air we breath, and the life we live.

A beautiful memory almost ruined.
by The Rebel inwith my wife, and son we went to an elton john concert in november.
the experience was almost ruined by a security guard saying my son was to young to attend the concert, but we simply joined a different entry point and luckily sneaked him in, by orlando hiding behind my wife as we presented the tickets.. my after thoughts observations are:-.
a) i purchased the tickets months before and to my knowledge no age of entry was mentioned.. b) so sad my boy could at 11 years old be denied an opportunity to miss seeing a world superstar ( at 67 elton can't perform much longer).

Thanks for the replies.
Please note the positive in my O.P, was that Orlando did attend the concert. But only because we had the initiative to get in another queue, in which entry wasn't denied.
The lesson is it pays to question authority, particularly if the person with authority, has no authority and simply gets pleasure being a p....k.
p.s Funchback, I saw Elton in Sweden, I think maybe kids are not allowed in a Swedish concert, even if accompanied with an adult.

Our new life.
by The Rebel inour life's are important, and maybe for many this board represents a first in a very important step to beginning a new life?
what is that new life?
it should be a life where we fulfill our wishes, not an organizations wishes, not our parents wishes and not our friends wishes.

Thanks scratch for your post and quoting me. However I would like it noted when I wrote:-
" Do not leave the Watchtower if you only have a poor quality of life outside the organization, remain with dignity, don't be intimidated by their authorative voice.....etc" that the message of my full post was to leave the W.T, but only when you are emotionally strong enough to handle it.
Thanks for your post, appreciated, as you made some great points.

LoveUnHateExams " Ridiculose"
I agree, but looking at these concerts on you tube, I see children are never in the audience. It's sad, the only answer I can see justifiable is the noice could be damaging to the child's ears. But I have attended many football matches with Orlando and the " noice" " language" and " drunken behavior" outside the stadium are less acceptable than the worst of most rock concert audiences.
So whilst I can appreciate some rock concerts are not suitable for kids, i would have thought if a " World Famous Artist " is doing a world tour, it must become pretty obvious to the organisers, if the event is a suitable audience for children. Anyway, it was a musical experience that Orlando treasured and as a family we shared, also I think it a shame that children are denied the opportunity to attend " certain" rock concerts.

My point is, the organizers of these concerts should know when a rock show is alcohol, sex, and decadence and when it's a family event that children should be privaliged to attend, without sneaking in. ( my boy is a tall 11 year old, and to have to sneak him in to Elton John and a quality music experience I felt was sad)

Why was corruption of scriptures not prevented?
by anointed1 inmany bracketed portions in the scriptures, influence of foreign myths and unscientific teachings … etc show that scriptures have been corrupted.
even when they are not corrupted, religious teachings have often no effect even on direct disciples (when jesus was teaching, his immediate disciples were thinking about who was going to be first in the organization—something that happened in all religions which led into their infighting and divisions).
at the same time there are many good people among materialists, why?

I am an atheist and I may be wrong. But from my viewpoint I am an atheist because of words. Maybe this is why the only words Jesus wrote disappeared in the sand. I am referring to the scripture about the lady who committed adultry and was to be stoned, Jesus took his finger and wrote something in the sand, that today we can only speculate on what he wrote.
When you read and familiarize yourself with the endless Watchtower literature ...ummmm
Words are a far from perfect way to express our point of view. It has gotten worse as today we have smilies and twitter... :-) :-( :----) whatever.
